Andrea Vaughn (Drea) is a full-spectrum birthworker and student midwife currently based in Chicago, Illinois. She brings deep compassion, cultural humility, and an intuitive approach to caring for pregnant and birthing people in all settings—home, birth center, or hospital. Her practice centers on dignity, informed choice, and holistic support, meeting families where they are with sensitivity, education, and love.
Andrea’s passion for birthwork began in early childhood, when her great-grandmother noticed her natural instinct to nurture and care for others. That spark grew into a lifelong calling. Today, Andrea draws on her lived experience as a mother and her extensive training through organizations such as DONA International, CAPPA, and BADT, as well as her current studies at the Common Sense School of Midwifery, where she is training to become a Licensed Midwife (LM) and Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). She has supported a wide range of families—including single parents, queer and trans families, survivors of domestic violence, IVF conceptions, and those navigating complex postpartum recoveries.
Families who work with Andrea often describe her as grounding, intuitive, and deeply present. She brings a balance of evidence-based knowledge and ancestral wisdom, offering care that honors both the physical and emotional aspects of birth. Whether supporting through labor, postpartum healing, or feeding challenges, Andrea creates a brave, nurturing space for every family to feel seen, held, and empowered. Outside of her birthwork, she finds joy in music, storytelling, and community healing—rooted in her belief that every birth is an act of magic, resistance, and renewal.
I believe every parent deserves to feel seen, safe, and deeply supported through every part of their birthing journey. My favorite part of this work is witnessing the moment when a family realizes their own power—when strength, love, and trust come together in birth. I see my role as walking beside you with compassion, knowledge, and presence, reminding you that you are the expert of your own body and story. Supporting families during this sacred transition is not just my profession—it’s a calling rooted in love, legacy, and liberation.
