Bee Hammond is a postpartum doula based in Chicago, who has provided postpartum support to over 50 growing families since 2019. Bee brings her love for providing individualized care for every family with thoughtful, informative guidance and a warm energy to every home. She is DONA trained and continues to further her education in all aspects of postpartum experiences such as the basics of lactation, navigating loss and beyond. Bee is passionate about offering support in all pregnancy outcomes and experiences such as abortion and miscarriage companionship. She also specializes in the support and care of queer/LGBTQIA+ families and solo-parents.
Bee became passionate about providing care to postpartum families shortly after the birth of her daughter in 2011. Her experience highlighted the large gaps in care that extend far beyond birth and postpartum for birthing people and their children. She feels every single birthing person deserves to be informed, validated and deeply cared for on their journey.
In moments of high stress or chaos; Bee’s realistic approach to care and the multiple years of personal and professional experience she holds have provided families with the confidence to handle the challenges leading up to birth and everything that comes after. Families also value her reliability, multi-tasking skills and ability to hold space for those who need reassurance or an open ear. When Bee isn't supporting families she is enjoying quality time with her daughter, long walks with her rescue pup, creating collages and practicing many different forms of self-care.
I see my work as a way to disrupt the many harmful systems that do not serve us as humans by offering informative, empathetic care to families and helping them gain the confidence they need to navigate their unique parenting journeys from the very beginning.
