Bridgid AKA “Bea” (pronounced bee) is a certified full-spectrum doula, proud to offer families support on their journey through childbirth and postpartum. Chicago born and raised, Bea loves the city’s diversity, energy, culture, food, languages, and art. She is experienced in and committed to guiding families through their childbirth and postpartum journey. She sees beauty in every stage of life and is passionate about caring for individuals and families across the lifespan—from birth and postpartum care to young children and seniors.
Bea spent 27 years in the field of early child education as a certified Montessori preschool teacher, nanny, and school administrator. She has worked with children ages infants to twelve years old. She is also a certified yoga teacher- focusing primarily on working with children, infants, and seniors. Bea recently made the transition from teaching to doula care, applying her passion and experience with young children and their families to her philosophy and work as a doula. Her experience as a yoga teacher is a valuable part of her work as a doula. During birth, she draws on her knowledge of movement, breath, and body awareness to help birthing people find safe, comfortable, and supportive positions. She also loves bringing this experience into postpartum care, gently supporting new parents at home as they physically and emotionally adjust to life with a new baby-and loves doing yoga with any siblings in the family! Bea’s philosophy is based on her strong dedication to supporting the entire family she is working with. It is Bea’s absolute joy to care for newborns with gentleness, patience, and compassion, while celebrating the incredible miracle parents have just welcomed into the world. She honors each baby as a unique little person with their own beautiful journey ahead. Bea deeply values the trust parents place in her and feels truly honored and privileged to be part of those precious early days. This commitment extends to the whole family as she supports new parents- providing a safe space and peace of mind that she is there for them all. Bea loves working with siblings as well as newborns, offering parents opportunities to rest or have some one on one time with their baby. She uses her teaching experience to create fun art and cooking projects with siblings. Her own experience of having a birth doula, caring for infants, and life long commitment to early childhood development led her to the doula path.
Bea is a mother to an amazing, independent, creative 21 year old daughter who lives in Minneapolis. In her spare time she loves spending time with her cat and extended family’s dog and is always happy to meet new furry friends! She is a published poet, playwright and enjoys dabbling in installation art and pottery. She loves theatre, practically living at the lake, walking all over the place, and yoga.
It is my absolute joy and pride to have dedicated my life to infants, children, and their families. I bring a whole lot of love, experience, and education with me, putting my entire self into everything I do. Being a doula is deeply important to me because it allows me use all of that experience to meet your family’s individual needs and give your family the individualized care you all deserve. I am here for you and can’t wait to meet you!
