Brittney Semple is a passionate full spectrum doula serving Rockford, IL and surrounding areas. She has supported families through their transitions into parenthood since 2019. Brittney strives to help clients feel informed, confident, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
Brittney holds a masters in Applied Family & Child Studies, with an emphasis on child development, from Northern Illinois University. Her journey into birth work began during her own first pregnancy, when she became deeply fascinated by the beauty, strength, and transformation found within pregnancy, labor, and early parenthood. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to walking alongside families during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives. Brittney is a DONA-International Certified Birth Doula, who loves to utilize Spinning Babies techniques in the birthing room. Brittney is also certified as a Lactation Counselor through ALPP, a certified car seat technician, and a certified infant massage facilitator through the International Association of Infant Massage. Brittney understands the value of strong attachment and bonding between a parent & child. She guides parents through bonding activities that can start from utero into the postpartum period. Postpartum, Brittney offers education and activities to help build parental confidence, while following evidence-based guidelines.
Families often share their appreciation for the knowledge, emotional support, and calm, nurturing presence Brittney brings to each visit. During births, Brittney works with clients & their support team to ensure clients are heard and feel safe, with a goal of a positive birth experience. As a Christian, Brittney views birth as sacred and deeply meaningful. She is honored to support families who wish to incorporate faith, prayer, or spiritual practices into their birth space, while providing respectful, inclusive care to families of all cultures and belief systems. Outside of doula work, Brittney loves to spend her time with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys the finer things in life like being cozy watching a movie, learning a new recipe, family walks, and spending time in her faith.
Bringing life into the world is something that should be embraced, not feared! It is a memory that will stick with you forever. Ensuring you have someone you trust to support you and your family can make a difference, no matter the outcome. Doulas are often described as those who “mother the mother,” while offering reassurance and steady support during vulnerable moments. This is something that comes naturally to me. May you feel supported, respected, and safe during this beautiful journey.
