Bio

Emily Mikes is a postpartum doula based in Chicago, Illinois, who brings warmth, calm, and evidence-based birthing practices to her care. Now in her first year as a postpartum doula, Emily has over fifteen years of experience in childcare, including teaching infant swim lessons and caring for multiples, including triplets. She is certified in First Aid and CPR, proficient in newborn care, lactation, bottle feeding, and nurturing healthy sleep habits. Emily is committed to helping new parents feel empowered and at ease as they adjust to life with their baby.

During postpartum support, Emily helps families maximize rest, nourishment, and peace of mind knowing their baby is in safe hands. She stays current on the latest guidelines from the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to ensure her care is rooted in safety and up-to-date best practices. Emily’s approach is gentle, supportive, and tailored to each family’s unique needs and preferences, creating a safe and positive environment for all.

Emily is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, a lifelong animal lover, and someone who believes deeply in the power of calm, compassionate presence during times of transition. When she’s not supporting families, she enjoys creating art, arranging flowers, and spending time with her two dogs.

Message to new parents

Every parent deserves to feel supported, confident, and cared for. My favorite part of this work is watching families settle into their rhythm and witnessing the quiet moments of connection that follow. Supporting families during this transition is a privilege because I know how meaningful it is to feel seen, heard, and at ease as you step into this new chapter.
