Ja'na Baylor (she/her) is a Full Spectrum Doula based in Chicago, IL. Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, she has dedicated her career to supporting individuals and families through education, community engagement, and maternal health advocacy. From working with youth and community organizations to helping families navigate Medicaid, SNAP, and other community resources, Ja'na has always been passionate about improving access to care and creating healthier communities. Her commitment to reproductive justice and birth work led her to become a doula, and she is honored to support families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
Ja'na's approach to doula care is rooted in compassionate, relationship-centered support and evidence-based education. She believes every family deserves to feel informed, respected, and empowered throughout their birthing journey. Drawing on her experience in maternal and child health, healthcare navigation, and community-based advocacy, she helps clients access resources, understand their options, and confidently make decisions that align with their values. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Theatre Art Therapy from DePauw University and a Graduate Certificate in Maternal and Child Health from the University at Albany.
Ja'na is committed to continuing her education and expanding her knowledge to better serve birthing people and their families. She is a Full Spectrum Doula trained through Doula Trainings International (DTI) and Gifted Hands International (GHI) and an Abortion Doula through Birthing Advocacy Doula Training (BADT). Her professional experience includes supporting Black maternal health research, working directly with families to reduce barriers to healthcare and community resources, and promoting maternal and infant wellness through community-based programs.
Outside of birth work, Ja'na enjoys spending time in community, embracing creativity and play, exploring Chicago, and finding opportunities to support collective wellness. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside families during one of life's most transformative experiences and is dedicated to ensuring every client feels seen, supported, and empowered.
My creative spirit reminds me that no two birth journeys are alike, and I strive to meet each family with curiosity, empathy, and individualized care.
