Bio

Keena Michon | Your Community Doula

I am a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, known across social media as Your Community Doula. With over 17 years of experience in the childcare field—including roles as a nanny, professional babysitter, and director-qualified teacher—I bring a deeply rooted commitment to nurturing families from all walks of life. I’ve had the honor of working with both privileged and under-resourced communities across the city of Chicago, providing compassionate, culturally competent care.

My classroom experience spans infants as young as 6 weeks to children up to 12 years old, but my true calling lies in uplifting the entire family unit. I fulfill this mission through education, birth support, and intentional fourth trimester coaching. I became a doula in 2020 to help reduce the alarming maternal mortality rate among women of color—particularly African/Black women—by offering hands-on support and accessible community-based education.

Families describe me as warm, deeply caring, and genuinely invested in their well-being. My current work as a perinatal professional includes:

  • Birth Support as a Labor Doula
  • Postpartum Planning & Strategy as a Postpartum Coach
  • Personalized Family Nutrition as a Postpartum Meal Prep Strategist and Cook
  • Community Education as a Childbirth Educator, including with adolescents

I hold the following certifications:

  • Certified Birth Doula – Birth and Baby University
  • Certified Postpartum Doula – Birth and Baby University
  • Certified Lactation Specialist – Lactation Education Consultants
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified – NationalCPRFoundation
  • Certified Mental Health First Aid – National Council for Mental Wellbeing

In the near future, I will be launching a line of family-friendly books and tools centered around doula care, childbirth education, postpartum recovery, and nourishing meals for the whole family.
