Kena Hannah is a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula (certified in 2023) serving families in Chicago, IL, and the surrounding south suburbs. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and brings a strong background in mental health and family education. Kena began her professional work with families in 2019 as a Home Visitor and Parent Educator, supporting pregnant women and their children within underserved communities.
In her role as a home visitor, Kena worked closely with families to provide emotional support, teach developmentally appropriate activities, and help parents understand early childhood milestones. Through this work, she recognized a significant gap in access to childbirth education, breastfeeding information, and doula support—many of the women she served were unfamiliar with these resources altogether. Seeing this need firsthand inspired Kena to pursue birth work, allowing her to support families more holistically during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She brings knowledge in lactation support and childbirth education, with a focus on informed, compassionate care.
Kena shows up for families with a calm, grounded presence and a deep respect for each family’s unique journey. She believes emotional well-being is just as important as physical support and strives to create a supportive, judgment-free space for the families she serves. Outside of her work, Kena enjoys spending time with her husband and unwinding by catching up on interior design TV shows—something she credits for keeping her balanced and inspired.
At the end of the day, my goal is to ensure families feel supported, respected, and never alone during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I love working as a doula because it allows me to walk alongside families during one of the most meaningful transitions of their lives.
