Dereka Carter is a full scope maternal healthcare practitioner with a focus on  birth and postpartum doula work with over 15 years of experience in perinatal health, supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. She specializes in hospital births, unmedicated labor support, postpartum recovery, and newborn care education, with a strong emphasis on partner inclusion and emotional well-being.

As a mother of four boys, Dereka brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work, offering practical, grounded support that helps families feel confident and prepared. Her care is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and deeply family-centered, supporting clients navigating anxiety, mood concerns, or medically complex pregnancies within doula scope.

Dereka is known for her calm presence, clear communication, and ability to help families feel empowered and supported during pivotal moments. She is passionate about providing high-quality, compassionate care that meets families where they are and honors their values.. Her goal is to provide families with the tools and resources they need to thrive during this beautiful journey of parenthood.

When she is not supporting families, she enjoys spending time with her own four boys, engaging in community activities, and advocating for maternal health equity.

As both a perinatal professional and a mother of four, I understand how vulnerable this season can feel, and my goal is always to help parents feel seen, supported, and confident in their choices.
