Mari Rangel

Mari Rangel is a birth doula, postpartum doula, lactation specialist, childbirth educator, placenta specialist, and Certified Dementia Practitioner based in the Chicago metropolitan area. Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, Mari earned her nursing degree before moving to the United States, where she continued her lifelong passion for caring for others through healthcare, family support, and maternal-child education.

With more than 15 years of experience serving individuals and families, Mari's career has included private-duty dementia care, skilled nursing, behavioral health, and maternal-child health. Before dedicating herself full-time to private practice, she worked with the DuPage County Health Department as a Birth Doula, Lactation Specialist, Behavioral Health Case Manager, and Childbirth Educator, where she successfully taught two childbirth education cohorts for expectant families. These experiences strengthened her commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care.

Mari completed her Birth and Postpartum Doula training through DONA International and Birth & Baby University. She is a Certified Lactation Specialist, a Certified Placenta Specialist through Birth Brilliant Academy, a Certified Dementia Practitioner. She is also currently completing her Childbirth Educator certification, building upon the hands-on teaching experience she gained while leading childbirth education classes for the DuPage County Health Department.

Her areas of expertise include birth support, postpartum recovery, lactation education, childbirth education, placenta encapsulation and placenta keepsake art, prenatal massage, aromatherapy for labor, and supporting families experiencing medically complex pregnancies. Mari is also an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO and an approved Illinois Medicaid Doula, helping families maximize their insurance benefits whenever possible.

As a bilingual provider fluent in English and Spanish, Mari is passionate about improving access to quality maternal healthcare for underserved communities. Her calm presence, compassionate heart, and commitment to evidence-based care allow families to feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

Outside of birth work, Mari enjoys creating beautiful placenta keepsakes and botanical preservation artwork, spending time with her husband and family, exploring nature, and pursuing continuing education to provide the highest level of care to the families she serves.
