Niesha Porter

Niesha Porter is a Full-Spectrum Doula serving families throughout the Greater North Houston area. A U.S. Army veteran and founder of Guiding Light Doula Services, she is committed to helping families feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Since beginning her doula practice in 2024, Niesha has supported more than 100 births in hospital, birth center, and home birth settings, including inductions, VBACs, and cesarean births.

Niesha was drawn to doula work through her own experiences navigating pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. Along the way, she recognized the gaps many families face in education, advocacy, and consistent support. Those experiences inspired her to become what she wished she had during her own journey—a knowledgeable guide, a steady presence, and a source of encouragement during life's most transformative moments. Her goal is for every family she serves to feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for.

Families who work with Niesha can expect a calm, grounded presence, practical guidance, and compassionate support throughout their journey into parenthood. She enjoys supporting clients during both birth and postpartum, helping families prepare for labor, navigate decisions, and welcome their babies with confidence. Niesha is especially passionate about supporting mothers during the postpartum transition, recognizing that recovery, emotional well-being, rest, and adjustment deserve just as much attention as newborn care. In addition to her doula practice, she is the founder of The Vessel by Niesha, a wellness practice focused on supporting healing of the body, mind, and spirit. When she is not supporting clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, creating educational resources for parents, and advocating for improved maternal health outcomes in her community.

I felt called to this work through my own experiences with pregnancy and postpartum. I believe every family deserves access to a doula and the support that comes with it. My goal is to ensure families feel empowered, informed, and cared for at every stage of the journey.
