Norbie “Khadijah” is a Chicago-based full-spectrum doula, birthworker, and holistic wellness advocate devoted to walking alongside families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the many transitions that come with growing a family. A mother of five, Khadijah brings both professional training and lived experience into her care, along with a deep belief that families deserve to feel heard, respected, informed, and genuinely cared for. She is a Sokana Collective Certified Full-Spectrum Reproductive & Birth Justice Doula and an Illinois Medicaid Certified Doula, with additional training in labor and birth, postpartum care, high-risk pregnancy support, lactation, trauma-informed care, mental health first aid, cultural competency, and Adult & Infant BLS. Her approach blends evidence-based education with compassionate, person-centered support so that each family can make informed choices that feel right for them.
Born and raised in the Philippines, Khadijah grew up surrounded by traditions that view healing as something deeply connected to nourishment, rest, warmth, family, and community. Those roots continue to shape the way she supports families today. She holds a special appreciation for the sacredness of the postpartum period and the traditional practice of allowing the mother time to rest, recover, bond, and be cared for. When welcomed by the family, her care may incorporate culturally meaningful and holistic practices alongside modern, evidence-based guidance, always honoring each person's beliefs, preferences, traditions, and individual needs. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Khadijah meets families where they are and creates space for physical recovery, emotional well-being, education, advocacy, nourishment, and confidence throughout their journey.
At the heart of Khadijah's work is a genuine love for serving others and strengthening her community. She is especially passionate about making doula care accessible to BIPOC families and communities that have historically faced barriers to compassionate and respectful maternal care. Families can expect her to show up as a calm, nurturing, dependable presence—someone who will listen without judgment, help them understand their options, advocate alongside them, and care for the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. For Khadijah, doula work is more than a profession; it is an extension of her calling to nurture families, honor motherhood, preserve meaningful traditions, and help each family feel supported during one of the most tender and transformative seasons of their lives.
I believe every parent deserves to feel seen, heard, cared for, and truly supported as they move through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and all the beautiful changes that come with welcoming a new baby. Supporting families during such a tender season is deeply meaningful to me, and my hope is that every family I care for feels safe, respected, empowered, and reminded that they do not have to walk this journey alone.
