Samirah Muhsin

Samirah Muhsin is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and Doula with nearly 15 years of experience supporting families through the powerful transitions of pregnancy, birth, and infant feeding. She is the founder of Family Whey Contemporary, where she offers personalized lactation and doula care to families locally in Detroit and the metro area, as well as across the country through telehealth. Her work is rooted in meeting people where they are and helping them reach their goals building health legacies through connection, informed choice, and access to family milk.

Samirah has and continues to work with community and government organizations to promote equity in maternal and infant health, particularly for marginalized communities. She is also passionate about mentoring peer counselors and birth workers along their journeys. At the heart of her work is a deep belief that  support changes outcomes and  honors each family’s unique needs, supporting them in trusting their own wisdom and leadership. Whether during pregnancy, labor, or postpartum, Samirah holds space with care and commitment one WHEY or another.
