Bio

Dr. Tiera Smith is a licensed clinical social worker (LMSW-C) in the state of Michigan, trained in lactation counseling and advanced maternal mental health. She holds a doctorate in social work and specializes in supporting parents, children, and families through pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting. With over a decade of experience, she is committed to meeting families exactly where they are, with exactly what they have, and walking alongside them as they navigate the emotional, physical, and identity changes that come with becoming and being a parent.

Dr. Smith offers a warm, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approach that integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and faith when appropriate. She creates a safe, collaborative space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and goals, helping them build on their existing strengths and tools. Her work centers on maternal mental health, parenting, life transitions, and holistic well-being, while also supporting partners and individuals in their own growth journeys in clinical and community spaces.

At the core of Dr. Smith’s philosophy is the belief that becoming wellness is a mindset. Simply seeking support is a courageous and important step toward healing, balance, and empowerment. Through compassionate care, she empowers clients to thrive so that everything and everyone attached to them can thrive, too.

Message to new parents

I believe that when parents and families are supported, they can truly thrive, as can everything around them. It’s an honor to walk alongside you as you find your way, rediscover your strength, and care for yourself in new ways, because I’ve walked this path too and understand how deeply personal and life-changing it can be.
